    Description

Window card for the 1972 Broadway production of Robert Bolt’s drama “Vivat! Vivat Regina!” which told the story of the rival monarchs Scotland’s Mary, Queen of Scots and her cousin Queen Elizabeth I of England. The first act contrasted the personalities of the two monarchs, as they engaged in a battle of wiles. Elizabeth was portrayed as a woman who has given up on love and family in order to maintain a firm grasp on power, while Mary was portrayed as a reckless, impulsive woman ready to risk power for love. The second act concentrated on Mary's term as a prisoner of Elizabeth, during which time she reflects on her own pending execution. The production starred Eileen Atkins and Claire Bloom and was nominated for three 1972 Tony Awards.
The card measures 14 x 22 inches and is printed on standard cardboard stock. It is in fairly good condition but does have some corner creasing and edge wear as shown in the accompanying photographs. Colors remain vibrant. This item is sold AS IS so please study the photographs carefully before bidding.
